The collection is to document essays, creative writing, and poetry that can showcase stories that offer writers an opportunity to share their heartfelt stories and thoughts that go beyond the body.
Who can Submit:
New and Emerging writers who are in the LGBTQIA+ community. Preference will be given to Transgender, Non-Binary, Intersex, Gender Fluid, Two-Spirit, Androgynous, Genderqueer, A-Gender, 3rd Gender individuals, BIPOC.

Compensation for Submission:
If submitted work is selected for publication the writer will receive a printed copy of the work and a stipend will be provided. The writer will own the rights to all their work - the submitted piece will be a donated piece as part of a collection.
Q Youth Foundation reserves the right to any printing, electronic-digital copies (kindle, libby, etc.) and any other iteration of the publication in which it will be offered for purchase and 100% of funds generated will return back to future Q Youth Foundation programs and publication opportunities.

What to Submit:
- One submission entry will be accepted per person
- Up to 2 pieces allowed in one pdf or word doc
- It can be a combination of writings or just one piece - up to you on what you want to submit, keep these guidelines in mind:
- Essay Length 300 - 2,000 words max per writing
- Poems Length 400 word max (approximately up to 2 pages per poem)
- Creative Writing, i.e. Short Stories, Sci-fi & Fantasy, Romance, Historical Fiction, Flash Short Fiction 1,000 - 2,500 word max per writing

Meet the Editors:
Lilac Vylette Maldonado Editor Lilac Vylette Maldonado (she/they) is a community organizer and culture worker who identifies as a sick & disabled, neurodivergent, Two-Spirit, Chicanx femme. She has been actively organizing since 2009 around many intersectional social justice issues such as racial justice, gender justice, disability justice, LGBTQIA+ issues, and body autonomy and acceptance. They are an avid zinester who has written and created artwork for various academic and social justice-themed DIY booklets. She is a co-founding member of and logistics coordinator for the Los Angeles Spoonie Collective, a grassroots disability justice group connecting disabled activists and artists to community organizing and education opportunities. They are also a part of the education team at the Fireweed Collective. |
Ana Bernal Editor Ana Bernal (They/Them) is a Gender Non-Conforming artist born and raised in East Los Angeles. They are the Founder and Executive Director of Q Youth Foundation, a non-profit organization using the power of storytelling and the arts to connect the LGBTQIA+ community in Los Angeles. They earned a master's degree in Nonprofit Management at Antioch University Los Angeles. They are an inductee to Honor 41 national list of LGBTQ Latino/a role models for 2015. Received the LGBT Hero Award for the production of Eastside Queer Stories Festival 2016. Currently, they are a teaching professor at Humboldt State University for the College of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), teaching Community Activism for the Critical Race and Gender Studies (CRGS) department and Theater of the Oppressed & Film Grant Writing for the Film,Theater & Dance (FTD) Department. |
